Jessica Pegula starts her Roland Garros campaign against 20-year-old Anca Todoni in Round 1.

World No. 3, Jessica Pegula will kick off her campaign in the 2025 Roland Garros with a first-round clash against Romania’s Anca Todoni. The 2024 US Open finalist would look to improve her record on the clay-court and chase her first Grand Slam tournament with French Open. Last year, she lost in the quarterfinals of the event and Todoni, on the other side, will make her French Open debut.

Jessica Pegula arrives in Roland Garros to win her first Grand Slam tournament. She came close to the Grand Slam glory last year when she lost to Sabalenka in US Open final. The American ace was a runner-up at Miami Open and won her first career title on clay by winning the Charleston Open. She had a quarterfinal run in Stuttgart Open. In Madrid and Italian Open, the US No. 2 lost in the round-of-32.
To prepare for the French Open, Pegula participated in the Internationaux de Strasbourg but lost in the round-of-16. The 31-year-old posted a 28-10 win-loss record in 2025, including an 8-4 record on clay. In last 6 matches, she lost four and her recent clay-court performance has been concerning. However, Pegula has a great experience and the glory at Charleston Open will make him a superior player in first-round.
Anca Todoni failed to get through the qualifiers at Indian Wells, Madrid and Rome. The 20-year-old has posted a 6-1 record on the clay court this year but French Open would be a biggest stage for Todoni. The Romanian ace will play her first ever Roland Garros match after qualifying into the main draw. She recently made debut at Australian Open but lost the opening game. She will enter the French Open as a top-100 player. This year, she won her third WTA 125 title at the Antalya Challenger, defeating Leyre Romero Gormaz in the final.

Jessica Pegula vs. Anca Todoni French Open 2025 Prediction
Jessica’s tactical experience in Grand Slams will be a key factor in the opening round. Anca Todoni is making first appearance in the Roland Garros. It’s a already a biggest achievement for the 20-year-old. Pegula has a dominant record against the optside top-50 players but suffered a couple of defeats in last month against the lower-ranked players. Pegula will still make a cakewalk in the opening round.
