EXCLUSIVE: The Passion Of The Christ and Sound Of Freedom star Jim Caviezel is teaming with two-time Oscar nominee John Travolta (Pulp Fiction) on faith-driven action-thriller Syndicate, we understand.
The story will revolve around the journey of a recently released ex-criminal, Patrick O’Malley (Caviezel), who finds God and his faith during his nearly 30 years in prison. After choosing the righteous path to redemption, he becomes an informant for the FBI and works undercover for Special Agent Felix Miller (Travolta) to bring down the largest organized crime syndicate in the nation.
Asif Akbar (Boneyard) is writing and directing. Arclight Films has boarded international sales and is quietly launching this week at the Cannes market.
We hear the team is looking to shoot this summer in the U.S. and it’ll be produced by Akbar through his Akbar Media, alongside Colin Bates for Dream Syndicate.
Akbar most recently directed thriller Boneyard, starring Mel Gibson and 50 Cent and distributed by Lionsgate. In 2023, Caviezel, a devout Catholic, starred in mega box office breakout Sound Of Freedom, produced by faith-friendly Angel Studios, and is next due to reprise his role as Jesus in Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection. Travolta most recently starred in action films Cash Out and High Rollers.
